Summery Apple Lemonade

Fresh apples are pureed and sieved, then combined with homemade lemonade, to make this refreshing beverage.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups white (granulated) sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups apples (peeled, seeded, chopped)
- 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice, chilled
- 5 cups chilled water
- 10 fresh apple slices

Method
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and the 1 cup of water. Bring just to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Cover, cool and refrigerate until chilled. To serve, puree apples in a blender or food processor until smooth. Strain through a fine sieve. In a pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice, the 5 cups chilled water, and the strained apple puree. Serve with an apple wedge.
Notes: Around our home, lemonade is loved year-round. But I love to make a pitcher of this refreshing and unique version to celebrate the end of summer ...it's always a hit!
